From Nappies to New Moons: December’s Dawn and 2026’s First Light

“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” — Seneca

It’s Kindergarten Orientation week for my youngest as December 2025 rolls in. Wasn’t it just yesterday I was devouring a pastitsio (Greek lasagna) and convinced my baby girl would never make her way out? Well, she did, and out came a 00000-sized bubble with a voice that matched her Mars in Aries and Mercury in Leo. She could outcry a siren when hungry or tired.

Now she’s in her ‘No!’ phase, five going on fifteen, and can’t wait to start big school. It’s bittersweet, the end of a long chapter of nappies and teaching life’s basics. That repetitive, sometimes bleak rhythm of early parenting is giving way to something new. December feels much the same, like sunrise after a long night. Sagittarius season hums with optimism, amplified as Venus enters the sign on the very first day of the month.

Soon after comes the Full Moon in Gemini. There is a clearing of old ideas to make way for new ones. It might feel strange or unsettling, but this Mutable Grand Cross with the nodal axis and Pallas Athena calls for release. Old scripts, patterns, and stories no longer serve us. It’s time to let them go and trust that what leaves creates space for what’s ready to grow.

Before the Sagittarius New Moon on the 20th, Mercury enters Sagittarius on the 12th and Mars moves into Capricorn on the 15th. Mercury inspires truth-telling and big-picture thinking, while Mars adds structure and discipline to our passions. Together, they encourage us to step forward with clarity and purpose. As this is the final New Moon of 2025, it’s a perfect time to write down your top five goals for 2026. No need for the details yet, just the vision. Offer it to the Universe with the intention, ‘for the good of all, or none at all,’ and let it be.

This lunation harmonises beautifully with Saturn in Pisces and Uranus in Taurus, helping us turn dreams into something tangible. With both planets in these signs for the last time in a while, it’s a final chance to tighten loose ends and give your hopes one more go.

By the 22nd, the Sun moves into Capricorn (Happy Birthday, dear Capricorns!), followed by Vesta on the 25th and Juno on the 30th. The skies fill with determination and practicality. Once we’ve decided what to hold and what to release, we’re invited to start building. How can you devote yourself to your goals, one small step at a time? Venus softens ambition’s edges, while Mars channels drive into meaningful pursuit. In relationships, this energy highlights effort, accountability, and mutual respect. In creativity, it asks, ‘What are you ready to commit to?’ Vesta continues to whisper beneath it all that sacred work takes tending, not haste.

A representation of cosmic design and beginnings and endings as the year turns over a new leaf.

Before we all take a break, I should mention this forecast spills into January 2026. So grab a cuppa or make that loo stop before we dive in. I’ll wait…

Do da do da dooo…

Back? Chocolate in hand? Excellent. Let’s continue.

As 2025 dissolves into 2026, the numerological vibration shifts into a Universal Year 1. It is a year of beginnings, initiative, and self-definition. Think of it as the sunrise after a long nine-year night.

Now, a word of caution about those New Year’s resolutions. With Mercury in Capricorn from the 2nd January, the year starts with a bridge between worlds, from Capricorn’s summit to Aquarius’s wide-open sky. We’ve climbed, we’ve built, and now the horizon expands. The Universe exhales with happiness that you’ve done the groundwork. Now, what could you do if you trusted your evolution?

Throughout January, Vesta (12th), Venus (17th), the Sun (20th), Mercury (21st), and Mars (23rd) all enter Aquarius, surrounding us with collective intelligence and visionary purpose. Aquarius invites us to detach from ego without losing empathy, to see how our lives thread into something greater. We’ll be asked to plan with structure, but also to dream beyond it. This is Uranian Aquarius energy  that brings innovation through authenticity.

The Full Moon in Cancer on the 3rd supports this cycle, bridging self-mastery to shared mastery, and intellect to emotion. It’s a reminder to listen to your heart. Dust off those dreams you set last month, they still matter.

Then, on the 25th January, Pallas Athena moves into Pisces. Logic meets mysticism, and strategy becomes infused with soul. Here, wisdom is subtle power, intuition as intellect, empathy as discernment. In Pisces, Pallas doesn’t fight battles, she heals them. Her sword becomes a tuning fork, attuning us to emotional truth. She reminds us that true strength lies in compassion with boundaries and kindness with purpose.

This is a beautiful placement for healers, artists, and empaths, so use your gifts wisely. Don’t drown in others’ stories but shield yourself appropriately and if guided, guide them gently to shore.

Finally, as January closes and Neptune lingers at the edge of Pisces, the message is one of surrender. A new dream is waiting, but only after we’ve gracefully released the old.

And with grace, I’ll try to do the same. By saying goodbye to nappies, night feeds, and the wild ride of early parenthood as we enter the double-school-age era.

May the new year be kind to your heart as you let go of what was and step into what’s next.

See you in 2026! 💫

Astrological blessings,

Georgina xxx
