September 2025 Astrology Forecast: Eclipses, Retrogrades & Reality Check

As the temperatures soared in the Northern Hemisphere in August, we think that things will start to cool down, but not so in the skies. September may prove to be the main act of this half of 2025. It contains two eclipses, five retrograde planets and Mars moving into Scorpio (and I’m tempted to say a partridge in a pear tree, but it’s too early for that). This is a month where the cosmic weather demands both reflection and courage. Think of it as the universe handing you a giant ‘progress report’ with the following purple pen comments in the margins.

The month starts with Saturn still revising our boundaries, responsibilities, and coping strategies in the oceanic realm of Pisces. In this sign, Saturn invites us not to look at our boundaries but to learn how to swim in our emotions without sinking. Lessons are being revisited from April this year. If there is something you avoided, Saturn is going to make sure you pay attention. Like when a child asks you to watch a movie for the umpteenth time. You can’t fall asleep again. You have to watch the movie and pay attention to every scene. Because your child (Saturn) will question you if you saw something, and watch out for the tantrum if you have no idea what they are asking about.

On the 2nd of September, we may find ourselves saying things that we don’t mean. We need to think before we speak as Mercury sharpens the pencil in Virgo, but squaring Chiron and Mars, we may find our words can wound if precision turns into criticism. Handle conversations like you would a scalpel, carefully, with the intent to heal rather than cut too deeply.

We get to press the big cosmic pause button as Uranus goes retrograde on 6th September, while harmonising with Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto. There may be revelations around our freedom, technology, and personal autonomy. Slow changes often last longer than sudden shocks.

This brings us towards the final eclipse seasons of the year, with the first in this series of eclipses - a total lunar eclipse in Pisces on 8th September. This is the emotional crescendo of the month. Lunar eclipses in Pisces blur lines between endings and beginnings. Dreams, spirituality, grief, or compassion may surge to the surface. It’s a time of catharsis, especially where this eclipse lands in your natal chart. If you’ve been avoiding the truth, the eclipse will likely make it impossible to ignore.

A week later, on the 16th of September, Vesta enters the sign of Sagittarius. The goddess of the sacred flame asks us to ensure the commitments made now revolve around truth and wisdom. Don’t be surprised if travel is involved. It is also a good time to rekindle devotion to a study or spiritual practice.

The key to what we are experiencing during this eclipse season is to be diplomatic yet also balance that with raw honesty. Mercury in Libra opposes Chiron in Aries on 18th September, so conversations may expose old wounds in partnerships or collaborations. The key is balance with listening as much as speaking.

Venus enters Virgo on 19th September, which brings the old saying, ‘actions speak louder than words.’ Think less ‘roses and champagne' and more ‘I’ll fold your laundry and fix your spreadsheet.’ Small, thoughtful acts of love matter most.

When 22nd September rolls around, the second eclipse of the season occurs (these always occur in pairs, by the way). Mars enters Scorpio while we have a Partial Solar Eclipse in Virgo in its anaretic degree (the last degree of the sign). Look to where this eclipse falls in your chart (if you don’t know, ask your favourite astrologer!) as this is where we may see karmic closures around health, work, and service. Something is ending, so something more sustainable can begin. And with Mars changing signs, this isn’t just an idea; there is an intensifying and deep desire within to make these changes.

On 23rd September, the Sun moves into the sign of Libra! Happy Birthday, fellow Librans! I’m excited as I’m a Libra and my birthday month is just around the corner. Finally, a burst of energy and balance to see us through the year ahead. Yet Chiron keeps speaking up quite a bit as the month closes.

On 25th September, we are asked to reflect on where we tend to use a lot of 'I' and 'we.' We are invited to consider where we should be working independently and where we should be collaborating with others. If you're unsure, take another look. The opposition between Chiron and the Sun is encouraging us on this day to ensure we are comfortable working with others or on our own in different aspects of our lives. From here, we start to realise that some parts of our lives require collaboration, while others need us to work alone. It may be challenging, or it could be a time to put things into action, especially on 30th September, as Chiron opposes Pallas Athena. Chiron is currently retrograde, making it a great time to integrate emotional lessons about wounds into a smarter, more compassionate plan.

In the Northern Hemisphere, September signals the start of cooler weather and schools reopening. In the Southern Hemisphere, we anticipate warmer days and the arrival of summer. However, it’s not a month for coasting. With two eclipses, various Chiron activations, and Mars igniting Scorpio, the skies urge us to heal, release, and make clear commitments. It’s more about progress than perfection.

So, if you feel like the universe is grading your homework this month, don’t worry. It probably is! And sometimes, even a 'work in progress' gets full marks.

See you next month!

Astrological blessings,

Georgina xxx
