This month finds us hurtling at light speed across the solar system. Jupiter speeds through Taurus toward a new 12-month period while Pluto says, 'I don’t think so. You have something to check first.’
Welcome to May 2024! The month begins with Pluto going retrograde in the sign of Aquarius. So much so that Pluto will go back through Aquarius until he dips his toes in the final 21 minutes of Capricorn, before going direct again, then moving into Aquarius once and for all.
The start of this month beckons us to look back at the year since January and what has come to pass. How have things changed for you? He will rehash issues for a bit. Pluto will invite you to ponder the following question for the next four months, 'Do you like it? Have you transformed what I asked you to?’
In October, when Pluto does his final dance in Capricorn, we will face this question for the last time. We will face off with the past 15 years until the middle of November. We will reckon between what has traversed our lives compared to the promise of things to come. So take a seat with your favourite beverage, and let Pluto take you on this once-in-a-lifetime ride.
On 8th May, we have the New Moon in Taurus. This New Moon takes part in a wide stellium with Venus, Uranus and Jupiter. It also sextiles Saturn. We will be invited to prioritise what nurtures us. What positive habits can we engage that nourish us as well? What is the difference? This New Moon is about investigating and finding what is right on a physical and spiritual level.
On the 15th of May, the asteroid Ceres goes retrograde until the end of August. Being in the sign of Capricorn, she is asking if your current habits are sustainable. For example, let’s say the love you received as a child was conditional to your achievements at school. Your parents never hugged you when you were in pain and held that stiff upper lip. Suck it up, they would say. Yet when you did well, they were happy. And all they did in return was give you sweets or gifts as a reward. As an adult, whenever you feel sad, you avail yourself of a retail therapy session. You amass a closet full of items you never wear. Or binge on a chocolate block. Is this sustainable? Is this what you want in life? How can you nurture yourself in different ways that don’t result in potential diabetic diagnosis or bankruptcy? This is what Ceres in Capricorn is asking us to look at. Going to the depths of our souls to ensure we nurture ourselves in the right and most sensible way. Ensure we heal ourselves where needed and not look for it elsewhere.
Mercury then moves directly into its separating shadow period before moving into the sign of Taurus on 16th May. There may be thoughts and conversations around finances and material gain or loss. Look at what your relationship with money is during his transit. Look to see if you are being sensible with your finances. Are you involved financially with dependable people? This includes yourself. Or are you being stubborn and unrealistic about the current status quo?
On the 21st of May, we enter the Gemini season. Happy Birthday, Geminis!
With the Sun here, you are getting a lovely boost for the next 12 months, as are those with Gemini Moons and Gemini Rising. During this time, the part of our charts in this sign is getting its time in the spotlight for the next month, all before the Full Moon in Sagittarius on the 23rd of May.
Being in an optimistic sign, we see this Full Moon occurring while Jupiter is conjunct with Venus right next to the Sun in an out-of-sign opposition and forming an easy opposition with Saturn again (he takes part in another lunar occurrence this month). There is a feeling of things changing again. Something needs to be finished and fast. Yet, it feels as if what needs to go isn’t going fast enough. Uranus is nearby by bringing an energy that things need to move but not in the way we imagined. This Full Moon, we are being encouraged to drop what needs to go from our lives, with care. Are we sure it is time for it to go? All is not lost with Venus and Jupiter nearby. The benefits are on our side as the changes come our way.
The next day, Venus also moves into Gemini. When Venus is in this sign, we may find ourselves flipping from one thing to the next. We may be flirty with our words, flirting innocently with innuendo. Take care to make sure others are on the same page, or there may be misunderstandings. Yet with this energy in the air, we may be all flirty as we lead up to the biggest transit of the month.
On 26th May Jupiter movies into the sign of Gemini! With two planets and a luminary in this sign, we will find that things speed up and feel more upbeat. Conversations will get a dose of flightiness. If there is something you want to investigate, now is the time. Jupiter moved through the sign of Taurus at a snail's pace since last year. Yet in the last few weeks, it has sped up at the end of its time in this sign.
As Jupiter enters Gemini, we will feel a shift in the air. Things will speed up. Conversations will flow a bit easier as we will communicate more efficiently. We may find ourselves getting more involved, in local groups and communities. It is time to come out of our shells during the next 12 months.
This month is the start of the transition 2024 has promised us. We had it sweet for the past months with everything going direct. But remember, just because you are moving backward doesn't mean you aren't moving forward simultaneously. We won't know for a while how fast or where we are going anyway. Very Schrödinger-like isn't it?
See you next month!
Astrological blessings,
Georgina
