December has a few things happening in the skies that set us up to start anew. The month starts with asteroid Pallas Athena going retrograde in Cancer. As she is going backward in the skies, she is inviting us to review what our home life and nurturance mean, as well as what we can do to improve our homes to become our sanctuaries. As we rest in our homes it is a good time to recharge our batteries this month and follow the planet's guidance.
On 4th December, Neptune joins the rest of the planets in direct motion. We are finally moving forward in that part of our charts ruled by Pisces as Mercury moves into Capricorn before the Full Moon in Gemini this month. Whatever we have been revising now needs meticulous attention. The information recently gathered may be the source of some serious discussions. Also, this movement of Mercury is the start of the Mercury retrograde shadow period. It is where the first signs of Mercury retrograde season are felt before going into his full backward dance across the skies.
Then we have the Full Moon in Gemini which is a time to take stock of the year that was. It's a great time to clear out the old. Do this by writing a list of all the negative things, then burn or rip up that piece of paper. This action is symbolic as you are letting the Universe know that you are aware of what has come to pass and that it is time to move on and let them go.
Next, make a list of all the fabulous things that happened this year. It shows you acknowledge and are grateful for the wonderful things that happened. It also serves as a reminder that this year wasn’t all bad. This will set you up for the New Moon list which I will get to shortly.
After the Full Moon, Venus moves into Capricorn. There may be an air of being more cautious in matters of the heart during this time. The asteroid Ceres moves into Libra as well, and she is about bringing balance and all that romantic stuff into our relationships now. Be cautious but also have fun!
On 20th December, Jupiter finally moves into Aries and stays there for a while. A new cycle has begun!
On 21st December, the Sun moves into Capricorn!

This is your season Capricorns, where you will get a boost for the next 12 months. For the rest of us, we are getting a boost in that part of our chart ruled by Capricorn. On 22nd December, it is the Solstice followed by the New Moon in Capricorn!
Now, remember those lists you did earlier? It’s time to do your New Moon wish list, especially concerning Capricorn themes. These include reaching goals, releasing controlling tendencies, and handling responsibility.
This New Moon is a fabulous way to set your intentions for the year ahead and new beginnings. Don’t write a hundred things, write the achievable things. The intentions will have the energy of longevity that we can work towards. If you can see it in your mind's eye then you can achieve it!
The year ends with the final Mercury retrograde season, in Capricorn, and it lasts until 18th January. Then it will be in the shadow period again until the end of January. Remember to look at the fine print, back up all your files, and expect the unexpected. It is also a great time to unwind and gather all your information before the year starts again and to reflect on the year that was.
On that note, when I reflect on what 2022 was for me I can say it was hard...very hard. Health was a big issue this year, especially for my loved ones. It amped up my caring role but I am so glad they are doing better now. As for me, I grew quite a lot. I grabbed wonderful opportunities that helped me to grow as an astrologer and writer. I took those leaps that I was hesitant to do so before but I’m so glad I did. Also, I met wonderful people along my journey, which includes you! I want to thank you for your support this year on my astrological journey. It has been a pleasure to bring the stars to you and interpret them for you. I look forward to seeing you again next year!
