Let it sail away…

“I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.” —William Ernest Henley

Jupiter made a lively trine to Pluto last month. As Pluto takes his time, Jupiter comes along to ensure we can hear what Pluto is saying. Like a megaphone or that rowdy mate at a party shouting, “Did you hear what Pluto said?” and making a big thing of it. As such, I found myself in the depths of Pluto, squaring my natal Hygeia when Jupiter made his announcement. This came in the form of contracting COVID then influenza A. All while nursing my baby boy back to health post-surgery. Everything went OK (and I want to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers for my son’s operation), but when we were in the thick of it, it was thick. I also realised that this year is a year of letting go. I had to let go of what was causing excess stress. Otherwise, life is unsustainable. And this month, the stars are showing us how to take control and what to let go of.

As July starts, Neptune starts his retrograde trek over the last degrees of Pisces. It will continue until early December. Just looking at this placement, I hear Enya’s song Sail Away play in my head. And it is so apt! The placements in the heavens this month echo this tune. All because this year is a year of letting things sail away for new ships to come in.

Think of a summer romance. The person you are spending an idyllic island romance with is, well,  perfect. There are no problems, and everything is bliss. Then you meet them again off the island in reality, and ouch! What were you thinking?! That is what this transit will feel like. As Mercury will move into the sign of Leo, we need to swallow our pride. We need to analyse what has come to pass since March this year. Neptune is the king of illusions and dreams. Of where we kid ourselves and think it will all be OK. We prefer to wear coloured glasses. Yet there is a feeling that something isn’t right. That something is aching and proving to be uncomfortable. Lo and behold we take those coloured glasses off, and we may either hit an aha moment or kick ourselves. Take heart, it is all part of our learning curve. We will finally understand that we can’t kid ourselves anymore. We are at the end of an epoch that will be here in less than a year, but more on that as we get closer. For now, face what Neptune is showing you. You will not regret it.

The New Moon in Cancer on 5th July is opposing Ceres. She is asking us not to worry about the revelations. The key is to be kind to ourselves. We may need to nurture our children or inner child more during this Moon phase. As the Moon makes a trine to Saturn and sextile to Mars, we will pull ourselves into shape and toughen up a bit. We may have a little pity party as we face some harsh truths. And the lessons may be quite Saturnian. Make plans and apply some discipline. Face them, as the lessons are about to get interesting.

On 12th July Venus also goes into Leo. This adds salt to the lessons Neptune is teaching us. There are lessons in love and our confidence in partnership with one another. The asteroid Pallas Athena goes direct on 11th July, in Scorpio. She is urging us to listen to our intuition and dreams. We can finally see through things with x-ray-like penetration to the core of reality. People will come into our lives or come to the surface, to teach us how to understand our motivations. This links beautifully with what Neptune retrograde is teaching us. Stop believing the b&llsh!t you tell yourself, and get real!

As the Full Moon in Capricorn occurs on 21st July, Mars also goes into the sign of Gemini. The next day, Mercury starts its shadow period before the Sun moves into the sign of Leo (Happy Birthday Leos!). This is a big full moon. Remember how we had a Full Moon in Capricorn last month? That was the start of a change that if it wasn’t going through then, it will soon. Yet if what you were doing then wasn’t working, the Moon is trine Uranus, bringing an extra element of change. It is time to think outside of the box. Think of new ways to move on and find solutions to what has been on your mind. Again, get real and look through the illusions Neptune is presenting or lifting the veil to reality.

On the 26th of July, Mercury moves into Virgo. Being in a sign that it rules, we will find ourselves in a phase where we will be more direct. And meticulous with the details of what we are saying and doing. We will be in the waning moon phases as the month exits. We will realise that July is a month of preparation for the rest of the year’s spring clean of our lives. This whole year has been preparing us for the coming new era. It is a layer upon another layer of eliminating what no longer serves us to make room for what is to be in our lives. We need to find the courage to let what needs to go from our lives, and whatever it is, let it sail away.

See you next month!
